Mads

“I had a great experience working 1:1 with Kate. I'm currently pregnant with my second and trying to understand this big transition for myself and our family. Kate helped me explore and put words to everything I've been feeling and helped me feel really seen and understood throughout the whole process. She had excellent questions that perfectly balanced curiosity and expanding my own thinking and perspective. I walked away from our time together with a new way to think about this next chapter, as well as concrete next steps and resources. Every moment was so valuable and I can't recommend her 1:1 sessions enough, no matter what stage of motherhood you might be in.”

I’m Kate

I’m a mother of two, a matrescence doula & a certified birth story listener

I created my motherhood support practice after experiencing the struggle that can come with matrescence. Stretching from a mother of one daughter to a mother of two while recovering from a traumatic birth experience left me aware of the depths and struggle that matrescence can carry you to. I now offer support, perspective, deep listening, and space-holding for women in matrescence.

MY PHILOSOPHY & BACKGROUND

My guidance and space holding centers on you and your truth, no matter what motherhood looks like for you or how you come to it. I meet you where you are, supporting you through what feels best to you in mothering, honoring that each of our motherhood journeys and experiences is entirely our own. My aim is to lend you my stability, care, and deep empathy, and respect for the matrescence process so that you can find your center, your truth, your highest self, and your way forward.

I bring learnings from a range of coursework, life experiences, self work, and support groups, including wisdom from my own matrescence, studies with Seasons of Matrescence, Birth Story Medicine, personal experiences in traumatic birth and postpartum suffering, as well as the feminine experience I’ve witnessed in others through mother’s groups, women’s circles, and friendships.

What’s a matrescence doula?

As a matrescence doula I offer education, listening, and support for the transition from woman to mother that complements care from doctors, midwives, doulas and therapists, but adds a vital missing element: complete focus on the woman’s transition to motherhood, including what matrescence is, how it can feel, and ways to support yourself through it for a more easeful transition to motherhood and a more empowering experience of it.

If the word or concept of matrescence is new to you, rest assured you aren’t alone. This emerging concept is a powerful new frontier in maternal wellness that I am honored to share and support.
